A radio play about an unlikely friend.

Socks Whitmore (they/them/theirs) is an agender/gender non-conforming Los Angeles-based singer-actor, lyricist-composer, and writer rooted in voice and text. A self-described “professional overachiever,” Socks likes to keep busy—if they’re not recording VO or working on a new musical, they can be found working on choral music, indie games, short fiction, or amassing large amounts of socks. And for those who are curious, they hold a BFA Performer-Composer degree from the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) with minors in Digital Arts and Creative Writing.

This piece was originally written and recorded in November of 2019 in response to the prompt, "What is a story that needs radio to exist?"

Written, recorded, and edited by Socks Whitmore. Featuring performances by Rhiannon Lewis as Jesse and Socks Whitmore as their mother.

A statement from Socks:

"When I was asked to devise a story that could only exist in a radio format, I was drawn to the idea of placing listeners into the perspective of an observer who can hear but not see. Enter Alexa. This vignette explores how a constant witness to our lives (because yes, Alexa is always listening) might impact a child who has no one else that will listen."

Created during a time of quarantine in the global Coronavirus pandemic, A Moment Of Your Time’s mission is to provide a space for expression, collaboration, community and solidarity. In this time of isolation, we may have to be apart but let’s create together.
