Episode 197 - “Positude~Finding Hope in the Darkness” by Laura DeKraker Lang-Ree
One word can change a whole lot.
Laura DeKraker Lang-Ree is an award-winning high school theater director and has been Director of Performing Arts at The Harker School in San Jose, California for over 25 years. Her passion and purpose intersect in the classroom and on stage, working with students, casts, and fellow professionals, collaborating to make magic through art.
2020 has given her the space to return to a very dark time, when her 3-year-old daughter was diagnosed with cancer, and finding emotional and pragmatic guidance for navigating treatment was nearly impossible. Twenty-one years later, her daughter is grown and healthy and it’s time to give back through Positude, Empowering Parents of Kids with Cancer, launching on Instagram 1/6/21 @PositudeLiving. She’s been happily down the rabbit hole researching content and writing a book filled with much needed advice and help for parents and families with children afflicted by cancer.
She adores her high school sweetheart husband, their incredible three daughters, and can’t think of anything better in life than hanging out with her family underwater.

A statement from Laura:
"2020 has given us all pause and created an opportunity for me to return to a very dark time in my life and give back to a community that needs love and support - parents of kids with cancer. Nearly 300,000 children are diagnosed with cancer annually and support for those parents, a guidebook for navigating treatment, remains sorely missing. Now is my time to circle back to those years and share everything we learned in our journey, and give support and guidance through Positude.
To seek joy, to thrive regardless of circumstance, and to find the good in life, sharing it with others, every day.
With gratitude to my love Arne for his guidance and cheerleading, my girls for their constant support and Deb Fink for her inspired teaching and wisdom."
