’New Beginnings’ (Flenley/Wilson)

This song written with a desire to express a gentleness and reassurance that winter can bring, when we allow ourselves to see the gifts that this season can offer us. Notably, an opportunity to slow down and gather ourselves, inwards, to reflect, to restore and in so doing, start to form a vision for new beginnings in spring. It’s a reminder and affectionate encouragement to myself and others, that when things seem at their darkest, there is also another perspective: that it is in the darkness, that the most beautiful subtle and ultimately bright lights can be revealed. I also refer to a Buddhist quote ‘Winter always turns to spring’ (Nichiren Daishonin). Wishing you dear listener, much light, warmth and nourishment towards your own new beginnings as the new year unfolds.
