Episode 301 - “On Top of the World” by Jackson Layne
Jackson Layne was born from late nights at beach bars, a love of country music and a passion for feel good songs.
The group is led by singer - songwriter guitarist Larry Jackson, who is also a world class bassist, producer and arranger. As a Berklee College grad, he has been an in-demand musician since he moved to Boston from Vegas. Larry has toured nationally and internationally as an instrumentalist and also a front man.
Although Penni Layne is usually singing r&b/soul & jazz, she has country roots that go deep being raised in the South. She, too, is a Berklee College grad and also a songwriter, arranger, producer and poet. Likewise, Penni has toured and performed for audiences worldwide.
Together - with their years of experience and expertise - Jackson Layne aims to create music reminiscent of summers past and ones still to come!

A Statement from Jackson Layne:
"We wrote this song during the summer of 2020 in the midst of the COVID devastation happening world wide, the political landscape, and the social unrest. Plus, our business (an entertainment company) was completely shut down so we were trying various things to keep our spirits up and be hopeful. We became vegans, wrote music, I’m an artist, my wife a photographer and great cook. IN the midst of it, this song came out instantly, like it was already written. Just a celebration of a love that a couple can share. Then I edited the video with all sorts of couples dancing to create a very inclusive picture of all people."
Other credit: The other musicians on it are Steve Bankuti on drums, Brad Hatfield on piano, and Nick Grondin on guitar.
